从Briggs案 到 Brown案

您曾经听过最高法院中的「布朗控诉投陴卡教育局案」(Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas)吗?这是1954年、针对公立学校违反宪法的种族歧视案件,但在布朗案之前还有另一起类似的案件进入最高法院审理,也就是Briggs v. Elliott的案件,而瑟古德马歇尔也正是此案的承审法官。


Have you heard of the Supreme Court case Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas? It was the 1954 case that declared racial segregation in public schools unconstitutional, that is, that it was against the law to make blacks and whites attend different public schools . But Brown was preceded by another similar case that reached the Supreme Court first. The case was Briggs v. Elliott, and Thurgood Marshall was the main lawyer for the case.
